Michigan veterans can get free plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, 2680 Leonard NE, Suite 4, Grand Rapids. This is for any Michigan vet injured while on active duty. The injury must be the type that is treatable with cosmetic or reconstructive surgery. The offer is good only throughout the month of November for scheduling appointments. The actual surgeries will take place sometime after the first of the year, most likely in January.

Corkboard & Thumbtack Crafts

These are a couple of easy craft ideas you could use this summer to keep your kiddos occupied for a little while. This idea was shared with me by my very crafty & talented 13 year niece Shelby. Thanks {Shelby doo}
*The picture is from Shelbys cell phone so it isnt the best quality

Materials for the Corkboard

*Large piece of foam board

*Glue

*Scrapbook paper

*Sticker(opt.)

Directions

1. Cut any size of foam board that you want then cut the same size scrap-book.

2. Glue the paper onto the board. make sure to press all the bubbles out

3. Decorate with stickers,string,ect.

Materials for Thumbtacks

*Clear fish gems scrapbook paper
*Glue
*Paintbrush
*Flat thumbtacks
*Hot glue

Directions

1. Use the clear gems and cut the same size paper out
2. Paint on a light coat of glue onto the gem.
3. After the glue drys paint a light coat over the paper.
4. Wait for it to dry again then use hot glue to glue the thumbtack on.

How to get Freebies from Amazon.com

I am constantly ordering from Amazon & checking out not paying even a single penny, not even for shipping. As a matter of fact one Christmas when I was short on cash this is how I did the majority of my Christmas shopping. I saved my points all year long & then spent them in November so that my items would have time to arrive. Just to mention a few of the items I ordered & didn't pay a penny for are, my Celestron Telescope, a Vsmile Video Game system, 3 Vsmile Games, a Roomba vacuum for my Mom, almost the entire Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Series books, Cds, Webkinz, and sooo much more. Now earlier, I mentioned that I saved my points for these purchases. And you're probably wondering what points... Well here's what I am talking about. I use 3 websites to rack up my points to redeem for Amazon Gift Cards. It's very easy & doesn't take long to have enough to enough to get yourself something nice.

The first site I use is Winzy

The way Winzy works is, it is basically a search engine that lets you earn points not only by simply searching but also by playing games, inviting your friends, etc... And the thing I love about them is it isn't only Amazon cards you win there they also have many other nice prizes. I myself have an Apple iPod. And the most I've won in Amazon Gift Cards is so far $100. But I didn't do anything you can't do, all I did was use the search engine, which we all do everyday anyway probably.

The 2nd site I like to use is Mypoints

MyPoints has several different ways you can earn points & redeem them for your favorite Gift Cards, I just happen to prefer Amazon gift cards. And I don't have a lot of time so I only do a few things on Mypoints for my Gift Cards. I do click on the emails they send because those are 5 points, I try to qualify for the surveys they send because those are 10 points if you dont qualify & different amounts if you do qualify, I also print & use coupons, & do the Easy Points which is basically short 1 or 2 answer survey questions on the site. But there is so much more you could do to rack your points up faster. And lastly the 3rd site I like to use for my Amazon gift cards is Points.com

This is basically a shopping site that lets you earn points with your purchases & then redeem them for gift cards. Of course they offer other ways of racking your points up as well, such as, Swapping Points, Buying Points {which to me kinda defeats the purpose but to each their own lol}, & you can also Share your points w/ friends & family & vice versa which is very cool I think.

But anyway, that is the secret to how I get my freebies from Amazon. I hope you try these sites out if you aren't already. My Top 5 Freebie Hunting Tips!!

Being an experienced freebie hunter I can say I have learned quite a bit about freebies and would like to share a few tips to help others to become freebie hunters or to become better freebie hunters. So here are my top 5 tips.

1. Create a disposable email account. Something you wont mind opening and seeing junk mail. Because along with a bunch of awesome freebies, you will also most likely receiving alot of emails you may not want to search through just to get to your personal email from your friends and families etc. A few sites I recommend and use myself for my freebie emails is Yahoo and Googles' Gmail. But there are really several places to get a free email account.

2. Read the fine print. No matter what you are signing up for be sure to read the fine print and really check out the website. Be aware of the forms you are filling out. No freebie form should ever ask you for your social security number. So pay close attention to what you are filling out. And dont be so free with your personal information. I never share my social security number or real phone number.

3. Keep your eyes open! Freebies are closer than you may think. Watch television commercials, many products will put a website at the bottom of their ad. Visit those websites you may find a freebie, coupon, sweepstakes etc... Another real good spot to find freebies is in magazines, newspapers, flyers from the school in your childs backpack even.

4. Work for your freebies. Alot of times companies may have a freebie but not advertise it. So what I like to do when I come across a website that doesn't offer a promotional item is look for their 'Contact Us' information and let them know that I am interested in their products and ask if they would please add me to any mailing list that they may have and leave my mailing information along with my email address. Many times I will get a freebie in the mail from them and many times I will only get a coupon. But it never hurts to ask. This also works for 800 numbers found on product packaging, etc.

5. Be Patient!! Most times it will take anywhere from Two to Eight weeks for a freebie you've requested to show up. Sometimes longer and unfortunately sometimes it never comes. Why would it never come? Well the number one reason I have found for this happening is, they just simply run out of the product or item they are offering.

~Home Improvement~

I'm in the process of doing some remodeling to my house.
So far I've put carpet in 3 rooms and a hallway, painted
3 rooms and the kitchen, replaced a door, fixed the porch,
fixed a faucet, fixed the toilet {btw did you know a toilet

~* Tips to save on Gas *~

All of these tips were found on other sites but I thought
they'd be helpful for everyone who has a car, especially
those who spend most of their time in their car like I
normally do. Gas has been as high as $3.77 a gallon here
and Wow am I feeling the pinch! If you have any other tips
not listed here please feel free to email them to me

*Try to drive less, especially on very hot days or during
peak traffic periods when you will end up sitting in traffic
for longer periods of time.

*Try to riding the bus whenever possible. Or perhaps ride your bicycle,
or walk to your destination. Your body will appreciate the exercise.

* Do as much of your shopping as possible by telephone, or on the Internet.
{If you're shopping for anything in particular email me & I will try to
find you the best deal possible =) }

* If your job allows it, telecommute.
Even one or two days a week will really add up.

* Don't make unnecessary trips. Try to combine your errands into a single outing.

* Avoid letting your car idle for extended periods of time.
Anything over 30 seconds is unnecessary.

* Instead of waiting in long drive through line at the bank or fast food restaurants, park your car and go in the lobby. You will get a bit of healthy exercise this way as well.

* Don't accelerate more rapidly than necessary, and use your cruise control whenever you are on the highway.

* Read your owners manual, and follow the recommendations within it. No one knows better the potential for saving fuel in your vehicle than the manufacturer.

* Use motor oils that are labeled as energy conserving.

* Whenever it is possible try to limit the use of your air conditioner. An air conditioner creates a significant drag on your engine, impacting your fuel economy severely.

* Replace your spark plugs, and have regular tune-ups performed. Check your owner’s manual for recommendations.

* Check and replace your air filter regularly. A dirty air filter can have a large impact on your performance and fuel mileage.

* Have your front end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary. If your front wheels are out of alignment, it is akin to your car trying to make a left turn and a right turn at the same time, creating tremendous drag and rolling resistance on your vehicle.

*Check and adjust the air pressure in your tires to the recommended pressure rating. Again, this can cause unnecessary drag and resistance on your vehicle.

* Try to fill your gas tank during the cooler evening hours if it is possible. Filling your tank when it is hot increases the evaporation of the fuel in your tank. And be sure to replace your gas cap tightly for the same reason.

*If you service engine, or check engine light is on, have your vehicle checked by a certified automotive technician as soon as possible. Many malfunctions that can cause those warning lamps can also cause a drastic reduction in fuel economy.

Well... you almost cant tell it to look out my dining room window because
there's about an inch of snow on the ground that fell yesterday, but the
good news is, the sun is shining and it's actually pretty warm out today
so it's close enough to spring for me.

veggie gardener but I really enjoy flower gardens. For some reason my
sunflowers never quite turn out right for me but tulips... flawless LOL.

Well up until last night I have been pretty much dead set against voting in the upcoming election for our new President. The reason I had decided not to vote in the first place was because I really feel let down by my last vote and feel partially to blame for our countries troubles since I was one of the many who voted our current "leader" into office. Who wants that guilt again? LOL Anyway, I do have a good idea about who I would vote for if we were voting the current candidates into office today, but we aren't so I'm just going to pay more attention from this point on and we'll see what happens. ~*Caramel Peach Upside-Down Cake*~

Upside-down cakes are great for summer barbecues -- and the leftovers make a fantastic breakfast. We've used grits here to add crunchy, moist texture; the combination of caramel and allspice adds complex, sweet, fruitiness.

Softened unsalted butter
Caramel peaches:
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
6 whole allspice berries, optional
1 tablespoon water
3 large ripe peaches (about 1 pound)

Cake:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned grits
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), at room temperature
2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup sour cream, at room temperature

Serving suggestions: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch cake pan, line bottom with parchment paper and brush the paper with butter.
Caramel peaches: Combine the sugar, corn syrup, allspice and water in a medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat to high, and continue to cook, without stirring, until the mixture becomes an amber caramel, about 5 minutes. Pour the caramel into the prepared pan and set aside to cool.

Halve and pit the peaches, but leave their skins on. Cut each half into 3 wedges. Arrange the wedges in concentric circles in the pan. Set aside while you make the cake batter.

Cake: Whisk the flour, grits, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.

Slowly mix the butter and sugar in a large bowl with a hand-held electric mixer. Increase the speed to high, and continue beating until the butter is light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add the eggs 1 at time, waiting for each to be fully incorporated before adding the next.

While mixing at a low speed, add the dry ingredients in 3 additions, alternating with the sour cream in 2 additions, beginning and ending with the flour. Increase the speed to medium and mix briefly to make a smooth batter. Pour the batter over the peaches and smooth over.

Bake the cake until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 to 45 minutes. Cool the cake in the pan on a rack, about 20 minutes.

Run a knife around the edge of the pan to release the cake. Carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate and remove the parchment paper. Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

~* Looking For Mr. Goodbar Sundaes *~

These sundaes taste like Mr. Goodbar candy bars!!

2 pints vanilla ice cream

1 jar chocolate fudge sauce

1 cup red skinned salted peanuts, available on snack aisle of market

1/4 cup honey Whipped cream,

canister 8 mini chocolate covered crunchy peanut bar

(recommended: Mr. Goodbar),

optional garnish

Get 4 sundae cups or goblets out and place a huge scoop of ice cream in each.

Heat the fudge sauce 30 seconds in microwave, with the lid off the jar.

Sprinkle a handful of nuts into each dish, top with a layer of fudge,

another scoop of ice cream, a spoonful more of fudge.

Heat the honey in microwave 10 to 15 seconds.

Top sundaes with whipped cream, a drizzle of warm honey,

then garnish with a few red peanuts and a couple of

mini candy bars at the edge of the cup or goblet. edge.

Serve with long spoons if you got em on plates,

to catch any overflow.

I recently bought myself a PSP & I gotta tell ya I LOVE IT!!! This thing does EVERYTHING, I can even jump online with it & play other people. I can also upload my own pictures, play music, of course play games, & the best thing is I can take it where ever I go... Anyway ~ today I got my shipment of games in that I ordered on Ebay. I got 8 games for under $75 I couldn't believe it!!! I'm always leery about buying on Ebay so I keep a couple of things in mind before I buy. I always check the feedback & I always calculate what it will cost me total in the end. Sometimes you get something really cheap but then they smack ya with a huge shipping fee BLAH!!! ~* Slow-Cooked Shredded Beef Tacos *~

1 to 1 1/2 pounds beef chuck roast
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup water
1 package (1.25 ounces) ORTEGA® Taco Seasoning Mix
1 bottle (16 ounces) ORTEGA® Thick & Smooth Taco Sauce
1 cup (7-ounce can) ORTEGA® Chopped Green Chiles
1 package (12) ORTEGA® Taco Shells

Toppings:
shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, SARGENTO® ChefStyle Shredded
Mild Cheddar Cheese, sour cream

PLACE beef and onion in slow cooker. Combine water and seasoning mix in small bowl. Pour over beef and onion. Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours or until tender. Remove meat to cutting board; shred beef with two forks. Place beef in large bowl. Stir in taco sauce and chiles.

FILL warmed taco shells with beef mixture. Top with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream.

Makes 6 servings

~* Eggnog Angels *~

3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. eggnog
2 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
3-inch angel cookie cutter

Preheat the oven to 350° F.

Using an electric mixer, cream the sugar, butter, eggs, eggnog, vanilla and spices.

In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.

Add flour ingredients to butter ingredients. Combine thoroughly.

Separate into three balls of dough. Wrap each ball with plastic wrap.
Place all three in the refrigerator and chill for 2 to 3 hours.

Working with one ball of dough at a time, roll dough out on a floured working surface until it is about 1/4-inch thick.
Sprinkle flour on a 3-inch angel cookie cutter, then cut as many angels as you can.

Arrange angels on a nonstick cookie sheet or a cookie sheet coated in nonstick spray.

Brush angels with a mixture of egg white and 1 1/2 tablespoons of water.
Sprinkle with decorative sugar or cookie glitter, or leave them plain.

Bake at 350° F for about 4 minutes, or until cookies start to turn gold around the edges.

Remove cookies from the cookie sheet and cool on racks.
Once they have cooled, you can also draw little faces on them using the
frosting gel that comes in a tube.

~* Christmas Cookies in a Jar *~

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup quick-cooking oats

1 cup orange-flavored dried cranberries

1 cup vanilla or white chips

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a 1-qt. glass jar, layer the sugar and brown sugar, packing well between each layer.
Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; spoon into jar. Top with oats, cranberries and chips.
Cover and store in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

To prepare cookies: Pour cookie mix into a large mixing bowl; stir to combine. Beat in butter, egg and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Drop by the tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes or until browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Makes 3 dozen cookies.

~* Chocolate Church Mice *~

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

48 dried apricots

Wooden skewers

48 M&M's Minis

Black shoestring licorice

24 dry-roasted peanut halves

Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl
and microwave on high for 1 minute.

Stir and microwave for 1 minute more.

Stir until smooth.

For each mouse, press together 2 dried apricots, making a small point for
the mouse's nose, and thread them onto a skewer.

Dip them into the melted chocolate and place on a waxed-paper-lined baking sheet.

Use a second skewer to push the mouse off the first skewer;
use your fingertip to cover the hole left behind with chocolate.

Add M&M's Minis eyes, a shoestring licorice tail, and peanut ears
(break each peanut half in half again).

Refrigerate until hardened.

Makes 24

~*Caramel Crisp Bars*~

4 cups mini marshmallows

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter

14 caramel candy squares

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

6 1/2 cups crisped-rice cereal

1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1. Line a 9- by 13-inch baking pan with a piece of foil that extends at least 2 inches over each end. Grease the foil; set the pan aside. Melt the marshmallows, butter, and caramels in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until smooth, approximately 9 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Add the cereal and chocolate chips; mix well. Spread the mixture in the prepared pan. Let it cool completely, about 45 minutes.

2. Transfer the mixture to a cutting board by lifting up the foil. Carefully peel off the foil. Using a sharp knife, cut the mixture into 12 large bars, as shown above, or 24 small bars.
Store in an airtight container.

* 2 cups sugar

* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

* 4 eggs

* 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa or HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Cocoa

* 1 cup all-purpose flour

* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

* 1/4 teaspoon salt

* 1-1/3 cups (8-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S Dark Chocolate Baking Pieces
Filled with Raspberry Creme, divided

1. Heat oven to 350 F. Grease 13x9x2-inch pan.

2. Place butter in large microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at HIGH (100%) 2 to 2-1/2 minutes or until melted.
Stir in sugar and vanilla.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well with spoon after each addition.
Add cocoa; beat until well blended.
Add flour, baking powder and salt; beat well.
Set aside 1/4 cup baking pieces; stir remaining pieces into batter.
Spread batter in prepared pan.

3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan.
Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

4. Place remaining 1/4 cup baking pieces in small microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at HIGH 30 seconds; stir.
If necessary, microwave an additional 30 seconds at a time,
stirring after each heating, until chocolate is melted and smooth when stirred.
Drizzle over brownie surface.
Refrigerate until drizzle sets up. Cut into bars.

Makes about 36 brownies

~*Pat-A-Cake Oatmeal Cookies With Sprinkle Dip*~

1/2 pound (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened

3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon water

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)

1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)

DIP

One 8-ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed

1/4 cup multicolored sprinkles

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease 2 large cookie sheets.

2. For cookies, beat margarine and sugar in large bowl, until creamy. Add water and vanilla; beat well. Add combined oats, flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt; mix well.

3. Spoon half of dough onto 1 cookie sheet. With lightly floured hands, pat into a 10 x 12-inch rectangle (about 1/8-inch thick). Repeat with remaining dough and second cookie sheet.

4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown, rotating cookie sheets
after 5 minutes. Immediately cut each rectangle into 24 pieces.
Remove pieces to wire rack; cool completely.

5. For dip, combine ingredients in small bowl; mix well. Serve with cookies.
Store tightly covered in refrigerator.

Makes 4 DOZEN

DROP COOKIES: For individual cookies, drop dough by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Use lightly floured hands to flatten about 1/8-inch thick. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on rack. ABOUT 3 DOZEN

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 cup packed dark-brown sugar

4 teaspoons ground ginger

4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves

1 teaspoon finely ground pepper

1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt

2 large eggs

1 cup unsulfured molasses

Royal Icing {See recipe at bottom of this post}

Fine sanding sugar, for sprinkling

Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder into a large bowl. Set aside.

2. Put butter and brown sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; mix on medium speed until fluffy. Mix in spices and salt, then eggs and molasses. Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Divide dough into thirds; wrap each in plastic. Refrigerate until cold, about 1 hour.

3. Preheat oven to 350°. Roll out dough on a lightly floured work surface to G inch thick. Cut into snowflakes with a 7- inch snowflake-shape cookie cutter. Space 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper, and refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.

4. Bake cookies until crisp but not dark, 12 to 14 minutes. Let cool on sheets on wire racks.

5. Put icing in a pastry bag fitted with a small plain round tip (such as Ateco #7). Pipe designs on snowflakes; immediately sprinkle with sanding sugar. Let stand 5 minutes; tap off excess sugar. Let icing set completely at room temperature, about 1 hour. Store cookies between layers of parchment in an airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days.

Juice of 1 lemon

1. Beat the whites until stiff but not dry. Add sugar and lemon juice; beat for 1 minute more. If icing is too thick, add more egg whites; if it is too thin, add more sugar. The icing may be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

1 3/4 cups (10-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Holiday Shapes & Morsels

1/2 cup finely chopped nuts

1 sprinkle powdered sugar

Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

BEAT butter, sugar, vanilla extract and salt in large mixer bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in flour; stir in Shapes & Morsels and nuts. Shape level tablespoons of dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are set and lightly browned. Remove from oven. Sift powdered sugar over hot cookies on baking sheets. Cool on baking sheets for 10 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Sprinkle with additional powdered sugar, if desired. Store in airtight containers.

~*Holiday Snickerdoodles *~

Love cinnamon and sugar?
You'll want to try this easy version of a classic cinnamon and sugar cookie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker® sugar cookie mix
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 tablespoons Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Betty Crocker® red and green decorating icings

1. Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, stir cookie mix, butter, flour and egg until soft dough forms.

2. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. In small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll balls in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

3. Bake 11 to 12 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute. Remove from cookie sheets. If desired, roll tops of warm cookies in additional sugar-cinnamon mixture. Cool completely, about 20 minutes. Decorate as desired using icing.

~* Peppermint Cookie Hearts *~

~Cookies~

1 {18oz} roll Pillsbury Refrigerated Sugar cookies
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

~Icing~

1 {16oz} can chocolate fudge frosting
1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
8 hard round peppermint candies, crushed

Heat oven to 350°F. Break up cookie dough into large bowl. Add cocoa; beat with electric mixer until well blended.

On lightly floured surface, roll out half of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. With 2 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies. Place 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Repeat with remaining dough, rerolling as needed.

Bake at 350°F. for 10 to 12 minutes or until set. Remove cookies from cookie sheets; place on wire racks. Cool 5 minutes or until completely cooled.

In small bowl, combine frosting and peppermint extract; blend well. Spread about 2 teaspoons icing onto each cookie. Sprinkle each with about 1/4 teaspoon crushed candy.

Rice Krispies Peanut Butter Bars

1 10.5-ounce bag of miniature marshmallows
1/2 stick margarine
6 cups Rice Krispies
2 tablespoons peanut butter

Grease a 9x13 pan and set aside. In large glass mixing bowl, place 1/2 stick of margarine and marshmallows. Microwave for 3 minutes. Stir well, then add peanut butter stirring constantly. Add rice krispies coating well. Pour mixture into greased pan. Let stnand for 10 minutes.
Cut into squares.

~*~Almond Snowballs~*~

2 egg whites
Pinch coarse salt
1/3 cup sugar, eyeball it
1 1/2 cups, about 6 ounces, shredded coconut
1 teaspoon almond extract, eyeball it
1/4 teaspoon grated or ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
9 candied red cherries, halved
1/4 cup sliced almonds Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites and salt to soft peaks, then add sugar and beat again until peaks are stiff. Beat in almond flavoring. Using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, stir in half of the coconut. Sprinkle in the nutmeg and flour, stir, then fold in the remaining coconut.

Using a melon baller or other small scoop, or working with 2 spoons, form 9 "snowballs" a couple of inches apart on each of 2 cookie sheets. Bake snowballs 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly golden. Remove from oven and garnish each snowball with half a cherry and a couple of slivered almonds. Transfer to a rack or serving plate to cool.

~*~*~Buckeyes ~*~*~

This recipe has always been a favorite of mine ever since I was a wee lil buckeye myself lol. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family & I have.

2 lbs. Peanut butter
1 pound butter
3 pounds powdered sugar
two 12-ounce packages of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
1/2 of one bar of paraffin wax
toothpicks for dipping
waxed paper

Place wax paper onto cookie sheets and set aside. Cream peanut butter and butter until combined. Add sugar a little at a time. Make sure it is mixed well. Roll peanut butter mixture into approximately 400 1-inch diameter balls. Insert one tooth pick into each small peanut butter ball. Set all of them aside. Melt chocolate and paraffin (parafin helps the chocolate become shiny when it cools) in a double boiler. Be careful not to over-heat the chocolate. Dip the ball into the chocolate so as to ALMOST cover the entire ball. Leave small portion of ball uncoated. Let cool on waxed paper. Store in a cool place.

This recipe will make about 400 Buckeyes so you'll have plenty to package up & share with your friends & family.
